Diebold submitted a voluntary public offer to acquire shares in Wincor Nixdorf and the companies reached an agreement to merge for the purpose of formation of the largest in the world producer of self-service banking equipment.
Incorporated company started its operations on August 16 under the name Diebold Nixdorf. CEO of Diebold became the head of the new company, but the former CEO of Wincor Nixdorf became the president of Diebold Nixdorf.
The head of the merged company, Andy Mattes, considers that the merger will help to establish new standards in the field of customer service, security, and promotion of innovation. Eckard Haydlof, CEO of Wincor Nixdorf, highlighted: "The merger of Diebold and Wincor Nixdorf is a great opportunity for both companies to shape the future of banking and retail solutions. Together we can increase our capacity in rapidly changing banking and retail markets. Geographical expansion allows the company to be closer to its customers worldwide. Our common vision of multi-channel software solutions will allow us to create a better user experience, which will help banks and retailers to introduce maximum number of digital technologies".
According to the independent experts and Diebold analysts, the merged company will aim to cover market volume of 6 billion USD. Merger is expected to decrease annual expenditures by 160 million USD and is expected to increase Diebold Nixdorf operational profits by 9 percent in 3 years after the merger.
Thus, formation of Diebold Nixdorf is more than just a combination of two companies as it marks origination of an industry leader in innovations for branch/store automation and omnichannel experiences.
